Marjie received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1976 at California State University in Los Angeles and a Masters degree in nursing in 1981 at Loma Linda University. Her early nursing career included emergency room and intensive care work, including transport of sick children to the tertiary care ICU at Loma Linda University. After receiving her Masters degree, she worked as clinical specialist and in training RN’s new to intensive care as well as in schools of nursing. She traveled and lived in Kentucky and Denver where she continued her work as an RN and clinical specialist. She moved to the Northwest in 1990 with her husband, and started working as a diabetes educator/ CDE. She has been active in diabetes camp for kids and helping the community and schools work with children with type 1 diabetes. While raising 3 children, she and her family enjoyed the many outdoor activities available in the beautiful Northwest.

In 2006, Marjie returned to school at the University of Washington and obtained her training and certification in Adult and Women’s Health as an ARNP. In this new role, she has worked in Nephrology as well as Endocrinology as a subspecialty. She has a passion for working with chronic disease and helping people control their diabetes with a goal to prevent complications of this disease. She personally understands the complexities involved, and along with Dr. Stonesifer, and the endocrine team, works with and manages patients with a variety of endocrine conditions. She believes in the importance of patients understanding their medical conditions to empower them to assist in their medical care decisions.
